Something old. Something new. Something borrowed. Something blue

Her blushing face was gorgeous, supple and soft, perfection in every way. Her golden hair, pulled back with pins and clips, barely visible to his eyes, shone in the pinks and purples of the afternoon light, the small gems of blue glistening in the headband that kept back her flowing hair. Every step forward she took he could see the blush on her face only deepen, lilacs neatly arranged into a bouquet.

All he wanted was to hold onto her gloved hands, as he touched his slicked back hair, one hand behind his back. She was led by her grandfather, yet her deep eyes looked directly at him, a small smile creeping at the side of his mouth, she was more nervous than nobody but he could understand. She was shaking, cheeks blushed and hands clenched, a sign of her nervousness. Yet as soon as Grunman tapped his nose, and handed over the last Hawkeye into his grasp, Roy clutched her hands, not able to keep the grin off his face, and feeling her relax in his grasp.

His navy blue Fuhrer's uniform, white sash and slicked back hair radiated, or maybe that was just him, feeling on top of the world. Marrying this woman, the only woman who truly did understand him on a whole and who he was in every aspect, was something so precious to him, and he could not be more grateful. The chance for them to be married was a miracle, having the time to do so had been so rare, with Roy being Fuhrer and running a whole country.  And this day was all the more dear to him for that very reason.

She had her mother's wedding dress wrapped around her, puffy at the bottom and strapless at the top. Riza couldn't believe that she was wearing this dress, couldn't believe that she was marrying the man of her dreams. It was difficult to walk in the dress as it was so large, her free hand squeezed the base of the bouquet harshly, white heels feeling awkward in the sandy grains of the beach. Hoping so dearly that she wouldn't trip and fall over in front of her family and friends. Her shaking legs wearily made it to the stand of which the transfer was made, clutching Roy's hand as if she was standing on the side of a cliff.

Looking down on the crowd, she could see the people who were her family, those she had grown with and learned to love. Her deep mahogany eyes flickered to Rebecca, who sat with a cheesy, bemused grin on her face, knowing that the garter she was wearing was something she had helped with. As much as it embarrassed Riza to even wear. She had made the claim that 'Roy will enjoy this more than you know. For a thigh man.' In fact Rebecca had been the adorning Best friend, being overly enthusiastic throughout the whole experience, and stating that she and Roy had to be married before anyone else. Of course she thought that was a lot of crap. It had been one thing that had made Riza feel that much safer.

Just like Roy's pocket watch which she had borrowed from him, making her feel safer knowing that she had a part of him with her the whole day, together or not. She still remembered his gleaming eyes as he placed it into her hands, placing a soft kiss on her lips and squeezing her enclosed hands.

Eyes gleaming, the sun brushing their features as all eyes turned to them, bride and groom. The moment he had been waiting for -no- dreaming for was only minutes away. His heart was thumping terribly quickly and hard against his chest, glad that she was wearing gloves because he was sure that he was sweating.

How can I be so nervous!?

"Do you, Roy Mustang, take Riza Hawkeye to be your lawfully wedded wife? To love and to cherish, through sickness and through health, until death do us part?"
"I do"
"Do you, Riza Hawkeye, take Roy Mustang to be your lawfully wedded husband? To love and to cherish, through sickness and through health, until death do us part?"
"Of cour-I mean I do I do!"
Blushing deep red, she gave a small glance at Roy, seeing a smile spread from one side of his face to the other, like an idiot.

Like my idiot. Always.

"By the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."

Gently cupping her face, he kissed her passionately, savouring the electric feel that her lips always had to offer. Always warm, always loving, he could feel her smile, as her arms came to wrap around his neck, trusting him not to let her fall. She trusted him with her life, this simple gesture was easy compared to some of the things she trusted Roy with over the years. Feeling slightly advantageous, he tipped her, as Roy smiled greedily.

How could I deserve such a woman? Someone who loved me for me, not for my appearance but for my heart. I don't deserve her. That's as simple as it gets.

Feeling her weight shift, Roy caught her in his arms and spun her around, feeling as if time itself had stopped. He had always doubted when people had said that when you are with the person you love, your soul mate, that time literally stops, and that you feel as if it is just the two of you. He now realised how true that statement really was. Forcing himself away from her, he leaned his forehead against hers and the two beamed at the other, hearing the loud and encouraging claps and screams from behind him. Nothing could be more perfect.

                                                            -/-

His midnight black eyes widened with shock, feeling the cold rush of the ocean cover his body. His eyes squeezed shut, limbs searching frantically for the surface. Taking in a breath of air, Roy narrowed his eyes at his friends and family, even his now wife, who were giggling and chortling on the beach. Riza was laughing so hard that tears were forming under her eyes, hands crossed over her stomach, as the rest of his family. A pout began to form on his lips, shaking his head to release his silky black locks from the sea-water, and crawling back onto the beach, soaking and wet like a small puppy.

And as soon as he got back on his feet, Riza was waiting, as she poured a pail full of cold water on his head. His jaw dropped, seeing chortling faces every direction he turned. Hell, even his sisters and the Madame were laughing at him!

"What the hell?" Roy coughed, running a hand through his hair as he felt the sand stick to his clothes, grainy as he growled at his friends and family. Havoc and Breda slapped him on the back, his eyebrows furrowing together. His annoyance continued until warm hands embraced him from behind, giving her a soft smile. Yet with all the near death experiences, all the trouble, he couldn't help but sigh and give a small smile, before finally joining in and letting himself laugh. It felt like such a relief, and even though the sun was setting and he was shaking from being freezing, it still lifted a weight from his shoulders, made him feel lighter.

"Come on it was your wife's idea!" A chuckle escaped Havoc's lips as Roy took a deep breath to look back at Riza, who was now holding her mouth from stopping the giggles escaping. "I'm sorry lo-"
Before she had finished her sentence, Roy had embraced her against, laughing along with her, earning soft eyes from many looking on. "You are the most amazing woman I will ever know"

                                                      -/-

Leaning his head back in the car, Riza lay against them, on their way to Xing for their Honeymoon. Roy played gently with her hair. It cascaded, curly down to her collarbones, the small headband nestled in her hair. "What was that about Riza?"
"Having you thrown into the water?"
"Mmm, yes that"
"I am forever proving my point and that you not are not invincible as you sometimes think. But I also did it to rid you of any fears or past doubts. This is a new life for us, and I don't want you to worry."

His gaze softened, kissing the top of her head with a soft affection and letting her head nestle on his neck.  Her hands twined upwards to rest in his hair, no words could describe how she felt at that moment. Loving this man had brought its ups and its downs, but being able to love him without it being wrong, shamed upon or illegal made her heart flutter. Just as it was now. Thumping and beating so quickly in her chest. She had no reason to be nervous around him. He was her soul mate and nothing could change that, he understood her on a level so deep…

"You know I love you with all my heart. And that I know that this is a new stage for us, a new life. It's something I never thought that the two of us would ever be able to do."
"Of course I know that. And I love you too. But if there is something that will never change, new life or not…"

"You're always have been and always will be just useless when wet, love"

If you can correctly guess the something old, something new something borrowed something blue I'll write you a fanfiction of your choice ^^

Prompt from Alex0508: "She poured a pail full of cold water on his head"

:bulletpink: A garter is something traditionally that the new husband generally takes off the wife's leg/thigh with his teeth in a wedding.
